Intergenerational Mediation

According to The Ontario Association of Family Mediation, Intergenerational Mediation is ”the mediation of any dispute or conflict involving older adults. Mediation is cooperative, private, informal, supportive, and non-confrontational, and lends itself well to resolution of disagreements with people of advanced age.”

The participation of those involved in the circle of care for the older adult, including family members, friends, doctors, nurses, and home care providers, is often integral to resolving the disagreements.

Shauna-marie is a professionally trained Intergenerational Mediator with an AccIM accreditation. She possesses skilful and current knowledge about the types of issues particularly likely to be associated with older adults. She can help you and your family around:

  • resolving family conflicts

  • individual conflict coaching

  • health care and ethical issues

  • financial and estate issues

  • dementia and chronic diseases

  • positive aging

  • grief and loss

  • other emerging challenges families face as their beloved parent ages

“… over the past several years I have had the opportunity to work closely with Ms. Young on … extremely complex cases … her ability to assess and manage conflict … is incisive, strategic and to the point …”

- Elizabeth Sterritt, M.Ed., GDCR, AccFM, AccIM, Colleague
