Shauna-marie helps individuals and families to understand, interpret, and participate in ongoing medical diagnosis and treatment with a special focus on dementia.

She assists clients and their families by:

supporting interpretation of medical information, diagnosis, and treatment plans
helping to comprehend home support needs and services
planning for end of living with illness, disability, loss, and death
organizing respite care for the caregiver
helping to understand dementia and other challenging behaviors in loved ones
supporting families to establish care protocols and determine services required to help family along lived experience of acute and chronic diseases, treatment, recovery, and planning for death
counselling individuals and family members to understand and access public and private health care services, from diagnosis through treatment
facilitating difficult conversations about diminishing capacities, treatments and symptoms, medication protocols and side effects, fear around diagnosis, and planning for home care, hospitalization, palliation, and death
